We support events and functions that build a sense of community and that deepen relationships. From sponsoring basketball and soccer teams to attending the village fiestas and celebrations, Coffee Growing Community has been gracefully welcomed and woven into village life. Generous donations from our friends allow us to spend time and resources that reinforce our commitment to the people we serve. These relationships are the foundation of trust and respect that are necessary to work meaningfully together for the common good.

PUBLIC HEALTH

CGC has been able to offer temporary health clinics providing medical, dental, and optical aid. These clinics have been facilitated and funded by Coffee Growing Community, but have been staffed by qualified volunteer professionals from the surrounding area.
CGC also provides funds for daily vitamins for approximately 350 children and new mothers, and is developing community gardening programs which introduce nutritious grown foods to diets that are often limited and nutrient scare.

ATHLETICS

CGC has had the opportunity to sponsor local youth sports teams and sports ministries that engage young people and introduce them to the disciplines of athletics and competition, while forming relationships with Christian young adults who serve as leaders and coaches. Involvement in sports programs enhances the well being of young people while immersing them in wholesome, positive activities that keep them out of trouble and boredom.

CELEBRATIONS & CULTURAL HERITAGE

We have been privileged to not only observe rich and diverse traditional celebrations, but have been invited to take part as well. These include weddings, village celebrations, and local fiestas. It has been amazing to see how the local community have welcomed our GCG volunteers into their lives and families.

​The unique arts and traditions of a region’s people often fall victim to times of economic and social hardship and general globalization. CGC encourages and supports the sustaining of elements of culture and heritage that celebrate the unique beauty and identity of the local community. Among these are traditional dance, music, art and celebrations that connect people with each other and their history in wholesome ways.
